Sustainability
These are the first bespoke electric vehicles the business has introduced, and form part of the wider Group fleet strategy as the family business moves from petrol and diesel vehicles to new, cleaner technologies.
The vans have been sourced through Prohire, a commercial vehicle leasing company, on a Ford E-Transit chassis, and feature a custom build body by Bespoke Bodies, who are based in Warrington.
Both vans feature electric fridges and electric tail lifts, which means that rather than unloading individual trays one at a time, the trolleys holding all the trays can be safely and efficiently lowered in one go, making for a more efficient unloading process. The vans also feature solar panels on the roof to assist with power for the tail lift.
The vans are fitted with telematics which mean they can be tracked and the team can understand more about their performance as the data builds up over time.
Bettys Product Director, Paul Farr, shared his thoughts on the project:
It's great to see the new electric Bettys vans out on the road. Not only have we seen a positive impact in terms of reduced delivery times, but we've also been impressed with their efficiency and their mileage range, which is ideal for our branch locations. Our family business has a long commitment to protecting our planet, and these new vehicles are a positive next step for Bettys in reducing our impact on the environment.
