Sustainability
Bettys & Taylors has been named the winner of the Workplace Wellbeing category at the Yorkshire Excellence in HR Awards. This award recognises organisations that demonstrate outstanding commitment to employee wellbeing, and so we’re proud to be celebrated for our inclusive, practical, and lasting approach.
Head Judge Andy Atha commented, “Their approach was tailored around the different life phases that their people experience. Shaped by listening directly to peers and colleagues. They’ve introduced things like menopause training and men’s health engagement – initiatives colleague led and self-sustaining, driven by genuine passion from the ground up. The results speak for themselves with clear evidence of quality of impact across the business, reaching every site, every shift and every team. A brilliant example of wellbeing that’s inclusive, practical and built to last.”
Our wellbeing strategy is built around listening, inclusion, and empowerment. From peer support networks and menopause cafés to our Wellbeing Hub and tailored resources, we’ve created a culture where colleagues feel supported to thrive – both personally and professionally. The key insight from our wellbeing journey this year has been the importance of normalising conversations and providing accessible, practical support for every stage of life and work. This culture of openness and continuous listening enables everyone to thrive and demonstrates that wellbeing is a shared, evolving journey.
While our recent Workplace Wellbeing Award recognises the progress we’ve made in the last five years, caring for the wellbeing of our people has always been part of who we are at Bettys & Taylors. The pandemic brought an unprecedented moment where wellbeing needed to move even more firmly into focus, prompting us to listen harder, act faster and be more intentional about the support we offer. This short film reflects on that intensified chapter of our journey: how colleague voices, shared experiences and a collective commitment helped strengthen what already mattered deeply to us; looking after ourselves and looking out for others.
