National Apprenticeship Week (9-15 February 2026) is a nationwide celebration of the positive impact apprenticeships have on people, businesses, and the wider economy. At Bettys & Taylors, nurturing talent and supporting development are part of who we are – so this week is a perfect moment to hear from our apprentices.

Our apprenticeship community

We currently have 26 colleagues undertaking apprenticeships across the Group, spanning Levels 2 to 7. Their programmes cover a rich mix of specialist areas including:

Spotlight on Emma Ricketts – Quality Manager, Bettys

Emma is completing a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship in Food Technology with Sheffield Hallam University. Reflecting on her experience so far, she shared, “It’s pushed me out of my comfort zone, but for all the right reasons. Balancing work, life and university has been more challenging than I expected, but I’ve learnt so much from it. Meeting people from other food businesses has opened my eyes to how diverse the industry is.”

Her advice to anyone considering an apprenticeship? “It’s hard work but the best thing I’ve done. Reach out to others doing apprenticeships, and don’t hesitate to contact your provider. There’s so much support out there.”
