Celebrating our menopause male allies

Way back in 2021 we set out to establish a solid system from which to support individuals manage menopausal symptoms in the workplace and to encourage open and transparent conversations without embarrassment or misunderstanding. Since then, we’ve come a long way. Ahead of World Menopause Day on Saturday 18th October, we’re celebrating the incredible support of our male colleagues who are helping us create a more understanding and inclusive workplace at Bettys & Taylors.

While menopause is a personal experience, its impact extends to our partners, families, and colleagues. That’s why we’re so proud to highlight the work of Ed Konstantinov and Mark Hanson, two of our male allies who’ve taken the lead in educating their peers about menopause. Over the last six months, they have delivered informative and relaxed learning sessions to men across the business, fostering open conversations about what menopause is and how to best support those experiencing symptoms. The feedback from these sessions has been overwhelmingly positive, showing the real impact of their efforts. Here’s what some attendees had to say:

“I just wanted to thank you for your time last night. Every single person that went to the Café had something positive to say about it! There’s been a real buzz after it and I’ve even been asked if we can have merged sessions – male & female menopause cafes. Absolutely incredible and thoroughly worthwhile. Thank you so much!!!!!” — Bakery, Night Shift

“I think the team got a lot from the sessions. It was informative, and you provided a good space to ask questions and share experiences.” — Bettys Ilkley

For their commitment to fostering these essential conversations and creating a more inclusive environment, Mark and Ed were also honoured with the Frederick Belmont Award for Pioneering Spirit at our annual recognition celebration, Bettys & Taylors Honours, earlier this year, a testament to the powerful change they’ve inspired across the company.
